What Marketing Ops Really Does (and Why It’s Underrated)

If you’ve ever wondered what Marketing Operations actually does—you’re not alone.

We’re the team behind the curtain, making sure campaigns launch on time, leads flow smoothly, data tells the right story, and tech stacks don’t turn into tech wrecks.

But MOps is more than just process and platforms. It’s about:
🎯 Driving alignment between marketing, sales, and revenue teams
📊 Turning data into decisions
⚙️ Building scalable systems that fuel growth
🦸‍♂️ And yes, occasionally being the unsung heroes of GTM success

Hi, I’m Bathrinath Chandrasekaran, a Sr. Marketing Operations Specialist with over 6 years of experience in the field. I started my journey with Freshworks, supporting partner marketing operations across Reseller, ISV, and startup teams. Later, I joined the incredible Marketing Ops team at 6sense, working alongside inspiring leaders like Chris Dutton, Lauren, Drishtii, Vignesh, Nikesh, Hanna, and many more.

Also—fun fact—I’m a huge movie buff! 🎬 So don’t be surprised if I drop a few iconic film references in future posts to explain MOps concepts. Because sometimes, a good movie analogy is all it takes to make complex processes click.

Over the next few weeks, I’ll be sharing a series of posts on what it’s like working in Marketing Ops at 6sense—what we’ve learned, what we’ve built, and what we’re still figuring out.

Topics will include:
✅ Campaign execution at scale
✅ Intent data and lead scoring
✅ Attribution that actually works
✅ Reporting frameworks that drive action
✅ And more...

If you’re in MOps, RevOps, or just curious about how the engine behind modern marketing works—follow along. Let’s demystify MOps together. 💡

👉 Let me know in the comments what you’re curious about—whether it’s how we do things at 6sense or a challenge you’re facing in your own ops role. I’ll try to pick it up in a future post, or someone from the community might jump in to help. Let’s learn together!
