How can I exclude customers from my ICP segment?

How do I ensure I'm ONLY looking at intent for prospect accounts that are in-market? In every one of my segment reports, I see dozens of clients (which makes sense because our platform is part of our website).

Am I dumb and just missing something?

I suggest creating a segment of current customers (either through a CRM field or uploading), then exclude that segment from any ICP segments you create

  • Hi @Leigh, I agree with @charlotte.spangler - you can exclude a segment of accounts (in this case a customer segment) using the 'Accounts in Segment' filter is 'Not Equal' to [your customer segment] from your ICP segment, or you could add a filter to your ICP segment that excludes customer accounts using the CRM account filters.

Agree with above, we have a field in our database which identifies current/active customers, customers who haven't purchased in the past 18 months, and then prospects. We use that field in a variety of reports in SFDC as well as in 6sense.

Beyond that, your other option is to use an Opportunity field to remove orgs that have a Closed/Won opportunity on the account within the past XYZ timeframe.

Got it; thanks so much! We created a customer segment.
