Proceed with Confidence: Fear of Public Speaking

Michelle Poler's keynote at Breakthrough 22 was easily one of the better sessions I've sat through, so much so that I bought her book during her presentation. Just getting started with it, but hoping to leverage her tips in my own life.

But I have a fear of public speaking, like I'm sure most of us do, plus the Breakthrough event would be my first time presenting in this format (not once, but twice in one day!). As you can imagine I was really nervous. As we got closer one thing my co-worker, Derek, who presented with me, kept reminding me that "you're the expert, you know this like the back of your hand."

That little bit of support changed my POV on my upcoming sessions, helping me become more confident and less nervous. And it worked! Two sessions later I felt great, and can't wait to do it again in the future.

  • You're right, @Tyler Pleiss - I think there's a study out there about how people fear public speaking more than death! Yikes! Glad you overcame your fear and were able to enjoy Breakthrough!

@Tyler Pleiss I could not tell that you were nervous or even had that fear. Excellent job at Breakthrough and look forward to more opportunities to see you sharing all your great knowledge and experience. Thanks again!

  • @Tyler Pleiss thank you for facing your fear for 6sense. You did an amazing job presenting!
