Wednesday Wisdom: Is There a Gender Pay Gap in B2B Marketing? What the Research Shows

Options

Happy Wednesday Wisdom🧠

We recently launched our annual B2B Marketer Compensation report that’s all about what marketers are earning and the things that influence their pay. These reports are a labor of love for @Kerry and me, as we believe in the importance of fair pay and want to offer a valuable resource for everyone in the industry.

The most encouraging finding from this research is that men and women are paid equally across all organizational levels. We also found equal representation of the two genders across all levels of organizational strata, suggesting fair access to career advancement. We did the math to ensure that other factors, like tenure, education, role within marketing, whether a marketer was remote or in office, and more were accounted for.

We are extremely encouraged by these findings. However, we recognize that they offer a glimpse at one point in time. Ongoing vigilance is crucial to maintain progress on issues of opportunity and pay equity. We're committed to providing visibility into this critical issue and will continue to measure and report our findings.

Our commitment also extends to other genders not represented in our current study. This year, we had 5 non-binary respondents in our sample, making it too small for group-level analyses and comparisons. We will continue to gather more responses from other genders and are dedicated to including their voices in future analyses.

We invite everyone to check out our report, Is There a Gender Pay Gap in B2B Marketing? What the Research Shows, for a detailed look into our findings on gender-based pay.

This really was a great project to work on, but, more importantly, a great finding. We aren't saying everything is fixed as far as equity is concerned, but we are greatly encouraged to find that men and women in the survey we conducted have both equal opportunity and equal pay. Onward and upward!
