Real Time Slack Alerts for Accounts on your Website

Want to give your BDR’s/AE’s real time slack alerts when certain accounts are actively browsing your website? Perhaps it’s a 6QA + Top Tier target account and they just hit your pricing page. What if we could do them one better and give them the account plus the location of the individual doing the research? Would that be something you might be interested in? If so, lets dive into how to make it happen with some quick 6sense + Google Tag Manager + Slack magic.
Prerequisites:
- Company Detail API + Google Tag Manager Integration set up
- Slack Admin that can create an incoming web hook
Step 1: We will need your Slack Admin/ IT department to create a Slack App then generate a webhook for it. Click here to create Slack App > Click Create An App > Select From scratch > Name your app and select Slack Workspace.
- Once you click ‘Create App’ > Settings > Basic Information > Click ‘Incoming Webhooks’
- Turn on ‘Activate Incoming Webhook’ > Add New Webhook To Workspace. This is where Google Tag Manager will send alerts to.
- Select which slack channel you want the alerts to be posted to. You can set up different webhooks for regions, BDR’s, etc. See section Section 2 below where we set criteria that will determine when alert send.
Step 2: Use Google Tag Manager (client side) to send 6sense Company Details Data + user location data + site content information to Slack in real time! ***This can also be accomplished with GTM Server Side HTTP Request tag as well.
- Within the GTM (Google Tag Manager) instance you have your 6sense tag and Company Detail API set up. We are now going to add a Slack tag. In GTM > Tags > New > Search for Slack.
- Copy your ‘Webhook URL’ that was just created and place in GTM tag > ‘Slack Webhook URL’
- Next, determine what data points you want to send in the slack message when a user visits a page on your site. Below is the code block to place in the ‘Slack Message Text’ to send Company Name, Buying Stage, Domain, User location, and the webpage they are on. You can pass any data points you have in your data layer to the slack message!
Company Name: {{company_name_6si}} Domain: {{domain_6si}} Buying Stage: {{buying_stage_6si}} Location: {{geoIP_city_6si}} , {{geoIP_state_6si}} , {{geoIP_country_6si}} Page URL: {{Page URL}}
- Now the time comes to create business logic for when you want the alert to be sent! You most likely don’t want a slack message being sent to a BDR/AE/Channel every time any company is on your website (or maybe you are wild and you do want that). With Google Tag Manager trigger groups + the intelligence 6sense provides, we can be very prescriptive for when alerts can be sent. Again, this will vary company to company but here are some ideas to get the gears turning.
- Only send alert when it is 6QA account + on a TAL + high confidence score
- Only send alert when it is 6QA account + on a TAL + high confidence score + only if they are visiting a pricing page
- Only send alert when it is 6QA account + on a TAL + high confidence score + open opportunity at account
- High Confidence Score + Strong/Moderate Profile Fit + Not in CRM
- The world is your oyster. I recommend starting with stricter criteria to start and then open it up once alerts prove value!
- Setting up a trigger group. Remember, all data in 2c of our documentation can be used to create the logic for when to fire the alert. In the below example we are sending the slack alert message to be sent once the API has loaded AND a user is member of Segment_1234 (this can be any segment created in 6sense, in this case its a TAL + 6QA segment). Once those conditions are met, we are only sending the alert for Very High or High confidence.
- Save an publish!
You just created a thing of beauty! Your BDRs will be able to know which company is on your site, where they are located, pull up RevAI, find their contact info and boom, meeting booked!
