With the launch of Revenue AI for Sales, our Sales Intelligence tool can provide our customers with new data points, including psychographics, skills and interests! This article is intended to help you understand what this data is, and how it is GDPR complaint.

What is psychographic data?

  • Psychographic Data helps identify search terms being used by a company in its digital footprint. We allow our customers to select terms describing values, affinities, topics, and interests relevant to your sales team and your go-to-market strategy.

How does 6sense source psychographic data, and is it GDPR compliant?

  • Our psychographic data is sourced via third party provider and publisher networks based on companies doing research across the internet. This data is only at the company level, and we use this data to provide additional insight into companies that might be in market to purchase our customer’s products. Our providers and publisher networks implement rigorous policies to ensure compliance with applicable privacy laws in connection with the collection of data from visitors across networks.

Are psychographics different than skills + interests?

  • Yes! Psychographics are different than skills + interests, which are found at the people level. Skills and interests are considered part of “Contact Data.”

What are skills + interests?

  • Skills and interests provide information about someone’s interests and skills. Information about interests comes from sources across the web where someone has listed their interests. We map these back to their business profile. We keep this information broad and do not share specific sources.
  • Example of skills: copywriting, marketing, advertising, ABM, event planning
  • Example of interests: running, cooking, travel, soccer

How are skills + interests GDPR complaint?

  • 6sense relies on legitimate interest for the provision of business contact data under the GDPR, and 6sense provides applicable notices and opt-out rights to data subjects to the extent required by the GDPR.
  • 6sense’s processing of business data is based on our legitimate interest to compile and analyze B2B contact information to assist our partners and customers in performing marketing, sales, and recruiting activities. We only process a limited set of business contact data as necessary for the business offering, and do not process sensitive data. These uses have a limited impact on the privacy of individuals because the business data is related to a person’s role on behalf of a business and is typically both widely disclosed and readily available to the public.
  • Additionally, the contacts being provided to customers are not double opted in. Without offering legal advice, this means that customers may need to offer the contacts the right to “opt out” of or “opt in” to email marketing communications, depending upon the applicable jurisdiction, and ensure they use the contacts for lawful purposes.
