When using a Push Segment Name Orch/Workflow what happens if an account leaves the segment?

A common question from people setting up a Push Segment Name Orchestration or Workflow is whether or not a name is cleared out when an account leaves a segment.

The exact behavior will depend on how your Orchestration/Workflow has been configured.

In Workflows you have the option to either "Push Segment Names to All CRM Accounts" or "Push Segment Names to CRM Accounts from a Segment"

Within Orchestrations you have similar settings of Pushing Segment Names to all CRM Accounts, accounts created within the last week/last day or accounts within a specific 6sense segment.

The above settings define which accounts are updated by the Orchestration/Workflow. As such, if your Orchestration/Workflow is NOT configured to push segment names to all CRM accounts then you run the risk of a segment name not being cleared out when an account leaves a segment. The reason for this is that if you have configured your Orchestration/Workflow to only update accounts in a specific segment (e.g. "Hot US Accounts") once an account falls out of that segment it is no longer eligible for update and it will no longer be updated until it meets the criteria of your Orchestration/Workflow again.

In general, if you are pushing dynamic segment names to your CRM we recommend using the "All CRM Accounts" setting as this ensures your accounts are updated accordingly as they enter/leave segments.

If you are concerned that this will result in too many records being updated or too many segment names being pushed please note that we will not push all segment names. Only segment names that have been published and configured for Segment Name Enrichment are pushed by Orchestrations/Workflows. These can be reviewed under Settings > App Settings > ABM > Published Segments.
