Healthcare Clinic segments

Hi All,

Curious if there are any other med tech/med device/bio tech 👩‍⚕️ users out there that have found good ways to create 6sense segments based on provider types and care setting. The NAICS codes were too broad (e.g. NAICS code "6211 - Office of Physicians") we need further segmentation based on practice type and care setting (OBGYN vs Family Practice and Urgent Care vs. Hospitals). We have purchased some lists to upload, but these do not match well to the 6sense database. Appreciate any thoughts!

Thanks, Koby

  • Hi Koby,

Kate Herrmann here, I am a CSM with 6sense. This doesn't match your ask exactly, but one of my clients provides quality management software to the BioTech industry, and they use the Industry + Technology Used used filters to define their ICP; companies leveraging these technologies indicate a solid prospective client for them. If there are distinct technologies that would be used by OBGYN vs Family Practice offices, this might be a way of refining your audience?

If there are specific technologies or software you do not see in the platform, you can submit a request via support@6sense.com and speak with your CSM about getting these technographic signals added to the platform.

  • @Koby did you purchase Definitive Healthcare lists? I used to work in the Healthcare industry too, and found those lists to be incredibly unreliable. I also agree with the tech fit perspective above, which I used to do to narrow down, and even working on unique web addresses for the different specialty groups or practices and making sure your CRM reflects that and not the parent URL

@Rachel Zerilla Yes we tried definitive, but yea a lot of non-matches. The tech fit methodology described by @kateherrmann sounds interesting, but identifying technologies that are specific to certain practice segments is a big lift. The only way I can think is user interviews across all our desired customer segments, also much of the EMR/scheduling/patient management technology will be similar across provider type. Honestly healthcare software is not my area of expertise, hence the need for interviews. Would love to know if you either of you have found other ways to gather segment specific tech info quickly and reliably.

  • @Koby it looks like (from your company website) that your mainly trying to replace traditional PCR lab equiment, correct? I may work on honing your keyword strategy and narrow the focus that way? Potentially creating segments showing intent for PCR lab equipment competitors + other keywords specifically focusing on certain practice types?

  • @Koby I was talking to our data team, if you can provide some competitor technology you would like to track, we can see if we can get them added to our technographic tracking- if there are hardware technology competitors as well, i.e..specific PCR lab equipment vendors, we can see if we can track that too.

Hello Rachel, Did a bit of research in this vein to see if hardware or software could be good methods for building mutually exclusive segments of different types of healthcare providers/settings. Unfortunately for both hardware and software it is difficult because they are not used exclusively by a certain provider type. PCR diagnostics, and associated software, are used in pediatrician offices and urgent cares so it is not useful to create segments that separate these customer groups.

I was wondering if it would be possible to create these lists by using "look-a-like" lists. If I have a list of say 100 urgent cares will 6sense be able to generate the list of the other 9000 in the US by matching to that look-a-like list?

  • Hi @Koby here's a helpful resource on look-a-like segments- LMK if this helps: https://support.6sense.com/knowledge-base/1500000425642-segment-creation-lookalike-segments/
