6sense Web Tag 2.0 Question
Hey everyone,
Has anyone updated there web tag to version 2.0 using google tag manager?
We are trying to figure out how/if we should do that via this article because we already had the 1.0 tag in GTM. https://support.6sense.com/knowledge-base/11867180025747-install-the-company-details-api-on-google-tag-manager-6sense-webtag-v2-0/
We set the new tag up within 6sense but were a little confused on the GTM side of what to do. We read through the instructions but were stooped by this part:
“If you already had the 6sense Company Identification API Deployed to Google Tag Manager, such as following the Deploying Company Identification API with Google Tag Manager Event Trigger (WebTag 1.0) guide, then you do not need to do anything else.”
Then a couple of lines later…
“Simply swap out the base 6sense WebTag, including the extra code that wrote the 6sense Company Identification to the Google Tag Manager dataLayer, with the single-line WebTag 2.0.
If you had customized the dataLayer variable names in Google Tag Manager previously, however, please update your Google Tag Manager Variables to reference the Variable Names outlined in Step 2.”
Does anyone have any recommendations?

@Naveen Titare any insights to share here?

Hi all & @Andrew Backman I can help out here!
If you are not using the 6sense Company Identification API via the Web Tag (i.e. do not have the Google Analytics integration set up), then simply replace the existing WebTag in GTM with the new one (i.e. the steps here).
If you do have an integration set up that requires the API to be active through the web tag, and you had followed a previous RevCity (f.k.a. Dojo) Guide that I wrote for the integration with GTM, then you still need to replace the Web Tag in GTM, but you shouldn't need to make any other changes to GTM (of course, please test via debug mode before deploying to production!).

Hey @AlanStrahinic ,
So we have an integration with GA4 currently that requires the API to be active through the web tag. You recommend we just replace our the older web tag with the 2.0 one and we can just leave our other variables in the data layer alone? The only concern I had is that the article mentioned: If you had customized the dataLayer variable names in Google Tag Manager previously, however, please update your Google Tag Manager Variables to reference the Variable Names outlined in Step 2. We do have customized variable names in the data layer that don't character for character exactly match what is outlined in the article. Does that all need to be updated or are we okay to keep what we have with the new tag?

Gotcha! If it is a concern, I recommend reviewing the mentioned data layer variable names in the GA4 Guide for the ones were relevant according to your current setup with Web Tag 1.0. Then, all you need to do is change the Data Layer Variable Name reference in your GTM Variable to the new one, documented in the table in the GA4 Guide, relevant to "migrate".
Essentially what we have done is with Web Tag 2.0, when you choose the GTM tag type, we take care of populating the dataLayer with the necessary dataLayer values. You no longer need to maintain the extra JavaScript previously saved alongside the base 6sense Web Tag 1.0, as we handle all the parts of the process where you previously touched code. The dataLayer variable names are pre-configured and end in
