The AI Email Use Case I Keep Coming Back To: Green Hat + Global Consulting Firm

I work in customer marketing at 6sense, which means I spend a lot of time inside our customer stories. This is the one I come back to when someone asks: "Where's the most underappreciated place pipeline leaks?"

Right after the form submission. Before sales ever touches it.

The problem: A leading global consulting firm had a clean, clear challenge: high-intent inbound leads were entering the funnel, but not always receiving timely follow-up from sales. When a contact form submission didn't fit the team's immediate priorities, that lead went back into a nurture stream instead of into active qualification — right at the moment when buyer intent was strongest.

No one was ignoring leads on purpose. Sales was busy and selective, which is actually how it should work. But the result was the same: pipeline leaking out of the funnel before it was ever qualified.

What they did: Green Hat, 6sense's Teal-level APAC agency partner, recommended starting with one precise use case — MQLs that had passed the sales SLA. If a prospect submitted a contact form and wasn't engaged within the defined window, 6sense AI Email triggered an automated follow-up sequence designed to re-engage the buyer, assess readiness, and route the response back to sales with context. Qualified leads went to reps. Others went back to nurture.

Green Hat designed the operating model around the firm's actual sales motion — qualification logic, routing rules, and AI responses shaped to reflect the brand's voice, with transparency that the interaction was AI-assisted. They started with one campaign and scaled to six across inbound and outbound motions.

What happened in the first 30 days:

  • Nearly $1M in open pipeline recovered
  • Closed-won revenue from leads that would otherwise have gone cold
  • A scalable "leave no lead behind" framework now running continuously

The firm's Director of Marketing Operations:

"Within weeks, we could see we'd recovered pipeline that would have been completely lost. The speed of impact was encouraging and gave the team confidence that this was the right direction. Having a partner like Green Hat who understands both the tool and our business was critical."

Tom Baker, Senior ABM & MarTech Consultant at Green Hat

"The configuration is intuitive — you can move quickly to launch, but the real value comes from rigorous testing and optimization. We spent time understanding the client's specific sales motion, their qualification criteria, and how to structure the automation so it feels human, not robotic."

"Precision always beats volume. We didn't need more campaigns; we needed a smarter way to engage the right prospects at the right time."

Worth reading if: You suspect there's pipeline leaking out of your funnel before sales ever touches it. The MQL-past-SLA use case Green Hat built is one of the most replicable AI Email plays I've seen — and one of the fastest to show impact.

The "leave no lead behind" framing from this story has stuck with me. It sounds like a principle most teams would agree with, but operationalizing it is a different thing entirely. Is your team doing anything to catch leads that fall outside sales SLA? Would genuinely love to hear how others are solving this.
